eye irrigation

1	Keep the bag on the newspaper / plastic sheet.
2	Remove the bangles or the rings and keep them in a safe place.
3	Open the outer pocket of bag and take out soap dish containing   soap, hand       towel, nail brush and small piece of paper/plastic sheet.
4	Place towel on the newspaper
5	Place the soap box and nail brush on the paper/plastic sheet.
6	Explain the procedure to the patient and instruct him to tilt his head towards the       side of the affected eye.
7	Place mackintosh under head.
8	Wash and dry hands.
9	Take out the required articles from the inner pocket of bag for procedure.
10	Clean eyelids and eyelashes from the inner canthus using sterile wet swabs.
11	Expose the lower conjunctival sac by separating the lids with the thumbs and fore      fingers.
12	Hold the filled eye irrigator about 2.5 cm above the eye.
13	Irrigate the eye directing the solution on the lower conjunctival sac, from inner      canthus to outer canthus.
14	Irrigate until the solution leaving the eye is clear or until all the solution has been      used.
15	Dry around the eye with sterile cotton swabs.
