Spica bandage thumb

1.	Lay the free end of bandage across front of the wrist , leaving 4 inches free in order finally to tie the ends . carry the head of bandage across the back of thumb between thumb and forefinger . then take a wide spiral turn round the thumb within ½ inch of root of nail
2.	Take a turn round the thumb  horizontally so that the lower border of bandage is ½ inch above root of nail
3.	Carry bandage down over the back of hand , round the wrist and repeat the figure of eight turns round thumb and wrist , until base of thumb is completely covered
4.	Finish off the bandage by one horizontal turn around the wrist , and tie off
